Looking for a freelance copywriter? Meet Shannalee. With more than five years of professional writing/editing experience and an MA in Writing, she’ll take your concept–whatever the subject or medium–and help you find the right words.
Background
What began as freelance newspaper reporting in 2004 turned into a six-year career of journalism experience: an editorial internship with a book publisher, clips in local magazines and a book, an MA in Writing from DePaul University in Chicago, and, for three years, the opportunity to create and manage an in-house writing department from the ground up.
In early 2011, Shanna left her Chicago roots (and family!) and relocated to sunnier, (some say) friendlier Nashville, Tennessee. She still does work for predominantly Midwestern clients but is always open to hearing about new projects.
Publications & Accomplishments
Her publications have appeared in a variety of Chicago-area and other media outlets: Liberty Suburban News, Naperville Magazine, the Naperville Sun, the Downers Grove Sun, FoodLovesWriting.com, Pearson Media, the Buy Owner Blog and a variety of corporate and business-related materials. Shanna has also done editing work for Glancer Media Group, Sourcebooks, Inc., Buy Owner, and Cleaner Living Services.
She built a new in-house writing department for BuyOwner.com, hiring and managing a staff of up to six in-house and 60 freelance writers. In addition to writing and editing residential real estate advertisements ranging in length from a few sentences to 10 paragraphs, she developed training materials, editorial guidelines, and protocol. She established the official Buy Owner Blog, networked on Facebook/Twitter and wrote/edited over 350 feature articles.
